As a member of the Nlaka’pamux First Nation, Francyne was raised surrounded by Interior Salish culture and traditions and a strong sense of community. Growing up on-reserve with her ranching grandparents and her mother, she acknowledges that issues of residential school, substance abuse and economic barriers were a part of her childhood but her family, the community, and the land make for better memories.
